With all the diversity and culture in the area, there is an ample amount of tasty cuisine for locals and visitors alike. Chiang Mai restaurants offer delicious Thai meals at reasonable prices.


Chiang Mai is a city located in northern Thailand. It is the capital of Chiang Mai Province and is the largest and most culturally significant city in northern Thailand. For a great taste of local cuisine at half of the price of the larger city of Bangkok, look no further than Chiang Mai for a good meal and some live entertainment.

Palaad Tawanron: This picturesque restaurant is located in the forest on the lower slope of the Suthep Mountain. It offers a view that is unmatched by any other restaurant in the city. Come early and not during peak hours to avoid the long waits and enjoy some unique Thai food.

The Moxie: Located at one of best hotels in Chiang Mai, D2, this hip, new restaurant has a little something for everybody. Enjoy a drink of choice at the Mix bar and sample the local Thai cuisine with some international flavor added in.

Just Khao Soi: If you're looking for variety, this is not the place to go, but if you are looking for Khao Soy, there is no place better. This signature northern Thai dish is made of soft and hard ribbon egg noodles with a spicy chicken saffron curry.

Khun Nai Dern Sai: Translated to mean the 'the lady wakes late', this ambient restaurant is the place to go for an unusual and unique Thai menu. Enjoy the music in the background and the unique decor this sushi restaurant has to offer.

The Gallery Restaurant: As one of the oldest wooden buildings in all of Chiang Mai, the Gallery Restaurant offers great Thai food with a riverside view. Walk through a nice art gallery in the restaurant while waiting for the food to be prepared.

Galare Restaurant: Located near a reservoir, this restaurant is very unique. Order the chicken, which comes served in panandus leaves. Relax along the Ping River and enjoy a meal of Thai and Western dishes, along with some Japanese food in this very quaint outdoor restaurant.

Hong Tauw Inn: For some tasty fish, pork or curry, Hong Tauw Inn is the place to visit. With a fantastic atmosphere and oriental art objects located throughout the restaurant, the menu is packed with western foods along with some local cuisine.

Moon Terrace: Looking for some seafood? Then go nor further than Moon Terrace. Sample the fried fish in choo chee (red curry) for a taste of a local favorite. Another favorite at Moon Terrace is the grilled shrimp.
